Escort Cosworth 2

This was the car that really put Reyland on the map. The initial build was completed in mid 1997, but over the following seven years it was continually developed and advanced, with the car having several different transmission and engine specifications.

In 1997 it blitzed all performance records for a road-going Cosworth: 0-60 was over in 3.6 seconds, 0-100 took just eight seconds and it topped out at 187mph! In 2002 it successfully took the Guinness World Record for Fastest Caravan tow, achieving a top speed of 128.8mph while towing a 1993 Compass Lynx 340/2 caravan - a record it later lost to a car towing what looked more like a roofbox with wheels than a caravan! In 2003 there was an extra gear in the gearbox, an extra 75bhp under the bonnet and the performance figures had got even more extreme (listed below).

In 2004 it got a new engine which produced over 600bhp and the car was set to have a crack at the 200mph barrier... but that attempt never took place as the car was infamously destroyed in a high speed crash while taking part in the 2004 Gumball 3000 Rally.

This car appeared in many magazine features which can be viewed if you click here.
